Luxury Hotel Review : Westin Velachery,Chennai

Okay, this is awkward. I haven’t written any hotel reviews before (Carlton Kodaikanal might be an exception) and this is my first. I don’t know how to start, any suggestions from this post is appreciated.

An iconic business hotel, its located central to both OMR and to the airport. Most IT parks in OMR is half hour drive from this hotel and so as the airport. This hotel does offer airport transfers but for a price.

In a prime location, Westin is famous among business people and tourists in common.

Check in was a breeze. Welcomed by smiling faces. You get complementary offers that you would have to choose in random from a bowl. I got free laundry, but for a night stay why would I need laundry anyway. But it was a nice gesture from their part. You can book you stay and check in using Marriott Bonvoy application. Bonvoy is a membership option that Marriott offers, and its free too ! It would come in handy as Marriott is one of the biggest hotel brands and anywhere you go, you would find a Marriott hotel. Link for Bonvoy app would be posted at the end of this post.

The room was pretty comfortable. I booked the basic Deluxe room. Without offers, this would would cost anywhere from 4000 to 7000 without taxes. Check in time is from 3PM, but you could opt in for early check in by using Bonvoy app. See, its handy.

The room was modern and posh. All standard features you would expect from a star hotel of this price. The bed was one of the most comfortable ones that I have slept on. No wonder Westin is known for its iconic bed.

You get a cupboard which can be opened from both the bathroom and from inside the room. That’s good design. You get a desk chair which is well lit with not so comfy chair. The sofa is pretty big which could seat about three people, but it was hard as rock though. My complaint in the room was, there was not enough storage space for all my bags. Some extra drawers would have been nice.

Mini bar is stocked well, but its priced at high end of the spectrum. Highly doubt that anyone would want to eat from that.

In bathroom, you get a bathtub which I think does not have heater. There is a closed basic shower. Bathroom in my mind is B. It could have been better.

The room booking includes access to swimming pool, which is also a solid B. Well equipped gym. Pay extra you get access to spa.

The hotel has four restaurants. A all day dining Seasonal Tastes, Roof top Sunset Grill, Willows Bar and extra addition of Madras Kitchen Company hosting local Chennai cuisine.

Overall,

Comfort – 4/5

Amenities – 4/5

Room Space – 3/5

Bathroom Features – 4/5 maybe 3.5/5

Hospitality – 4.5/5

Worth the Money ? – 4/5

Rating would be 4/5. Would I recommend this hotel ? Are you looking for a place which is close to the airport and also has access to places such as a mall or other shopping options ? Then Westin would be a good choice for you. Go for it. You would not regret.
